Julie has been a nurse for 13 years, with 10 of those years in oncology.  She is currently the Manager of Oncology Navigation for HCA Healthcare’s North Florida Division.  Her hands on experience working with cancer patients has given her a first hand account of the support and resources that are often needed by the patient and their caregiver during treatment.  Julie resides in Ocala with her husband and 3 children.

Kevin Galeano, MHA, is a University of Florida graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health and a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration. As the Associate Director of Community Partnerships at the American Cancer Society in Central Florida, Kevin is dedicated to reducing the burden of disease and addressing disparities. His role involves leading and implementing interventions that focus on improving access to care, promoting health equity, and enhancing clinical quality. Additionally, Kevin serves as an active board member of the Cancer Alliance of Marion County (CAMC). Through his expertise and insights, along with the resources and connections provided by the American Cancer Society, Kevin aims to improve cancer care for individuals in north Central Florida. 

Lauren is a certified Forest Therapy Guide with a passion for connecting people to nature’s restorative power. She helps to bring people back in touch with the natural rhythms of the earth - a return to our essential life source that invites healing and renewal. Through guided nature immersions, Lauren helps her clients access an embodied experience of deep connection, inner wisdom, and reserves of creative potential lying within nature itself. With a background in communications and marketing in purpose-driven industries, Lauren deeply believes in the natural world’s ability to create healing and a sense of well-being. Lauren strives to create spaces where individuals can uncover their own magic, find solace in nature, and experience profound personal growth and transformation. Lauren is also a certified life coach and the host of the Graceful Confidence Podcast.

Missy White holds the pivotal role of Community Engagement Manager at CivCom in Marion County, which is a contracted partner of the Bureau of Tobacco-Free Florida, is dedicated to supporting the Tobacco PreventionProgram. Missy acts as a liaison for the Students Working Against Tobacco (SWAT) and Tobacco-Free Partnership of Marion County, championing activities that combat nicotine addiction.

Missy is also a dental hygienist who has worked in the field since 1988. She volunteers as a Dental Hygiene Consultant for the Florida Baptist Convention Mobile Dental Ministry (MDU) to help non-insured, low-income families receive preventive dental services across Florida. She is a mother of two adult children and a pastor’s wife. This year, she is celebrating her 35th wedding anniversary. She loves cooking, traveling, and snorkeling and considers herself a “foodie.”

Susie brings over 20 years of experience in client services, long-term care and strategic development to the team at Absolute Law Group.  With a special focus on client advocacy and expert knowledge in healthcare transitions, Susie is able to help our clients through very challenging health transitions and events.  Her personal service to our clients and our team is the reason our clients have comfort knowing they are being treated as if they are our own family.  Susie is married to her husband, Curt Carey and they live in Beverly Hills, FL.  Curt is retired from 30 years of service to our country and currently works at a bombing range in East Ocala.  They spend their days enjoying the outdoors and their 4 wonderful grandkids.

For 35 years, Vashti Nugent served our community as a nurse. When a life-altering cancer diagnosis changed her world, she experienced firsthand the importance of having advanced treatment close to home. Now she pours into cancer patients as an oncology nurse navigator at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital and HCA Florida West Marion Hospital, where she received her own life-saving care. Her story highlights that world-class oncology is not just in major cities, but right here in Marion County.
